Got this with godspeed on the Nexus 7 as soon as I heard it existed from a friend. I had to make that terrible joke, sorry. I’m somewhat of a Godspeed You! Black Emperor fan. I really like their music at times and feel nothing at times. Allelujah! Don’t Bend! Ascend! has changed my perspective. I bought the album on Google Play’s marketplace because of convenience. I use a Nexus tablet and it’s what I use to listen to music. I decided to buy the album itself on sheer impulse. But it has filled a hole in my music listening. It’s exactly what I was looking for in an addition to my library. So, I am rather biased here. Godspeed already pulled me in like a drug from the get go.
I know what type of music Godspeed makes and I knew this would be a goldmine of audio stimuli because of a trusted recommendation. And I’m glad it all turned out like this. I got what I want, and in a perfect scenario. This album is the perfect collection of stoner audio. It’s the high guy’s mind on drugs stretched out and converted into music. You’ll be taken high to victory and then, subtly, brought to warping lows. But in the end you enjoy the psychotic nature of these songs. They are ill but they are true.

Before you know it, when you really begin to start feeling it, the album rips away its sugar coated reality. Overall, I’d say it was worth my 10 or so dollars spent. It’ll be on replay for quite awhile. It does everything I need it to. It makes you feel uncomfortable at times. It’s a great album to put on background status. And best of all, it will send you far out, way out there, if you want it to.
This Godspeed album gets a 10/10 from me. I am a professional, so believe me.
